How to make a group card

One minute is enough even for a first timer. From creating the card to decorating it together and saving it as an image, in order.

1. Create the card

Type a name on the first screen and press Start. That is all. No sign-up, no login, no email verification. Most people use the recipient's name (“Minji”, “Mr. Kim”), but anything that fits the occasion works.

Canvas, list or letterbox

You pick one of three layouts when you create the card. It cannot be changed later, so decide at the start.

  • Canvas: a wide board where sticky notes go wherever people put them. You can add stickers and draw on it, so the finished board looks like one piece of art. Pick this if you plan to keep it.
  • List: messages stack from top to bottom. Less to decorate, but easy to read and better when many people join. Good for long letters from a big group.
  • Letterbox: each message is sealed in an envelope that drops into a mailbox. Tap an envelope to read the letter inside, or press Open all to unfold everything at once. Nothing shows until it is opened, so it suits a guest of honor who wants to open them one by one. Photos you took together can go in as well.

2. Share the link

Press Share link at the top of the card and the address is copied. Paste it into your group chat and you are done.

Whoever gets the link can come in and write right away, with nothing to install or sign up for. Keep in mind that anyone with the link can read and write, so check where you share it. If it is a surprise, be careful not to post it in a chat the guest of honor is in.

3. Leave a message

There is a name field above the message box. It does not have to be a real name. A nickname or something like “a friend from class 3” is fine. The name shows under your message, and once entered it is filled in for your next one.

Pick any color and font for your sticky note. There are ten fonts, from handwriting to a clean sans serif.

Moving and resizing after posting

On the canvas you can drag your sticky note around. Tap it and handles appear: the four corners resize, the circle on top rotates. You can only move your own notes, so there is no risk of messing up someone else's message by accident.

4. Decorate with stickers and drawings

Text alone is plain. On the canvas you can add stickers or draw directly.

Stickers: photos and images

Stickers are not picked from a fixed set. You upload your own photos or images. Choose one from your phone (PNG, JPG, GIF or WebP up to 5MB) or paste an image address and it lands on the canvas. A photo you took together, a childhood photo of the guest of honor, a hand drawing you photographed, even an animated GIF all become stickers. Once placed, they move, resize and rotate just like sticky notes.

Pen and highlighter: drawing by hand

  • Pen: thin when you draw fast, thick when you draw slowly. Natural for handwriting and hearts.
  • Highlighter: even width and semi-transparent. Use it over text to emphasize.
  • Eraser: removes strokes you have not saved yet. Saved drawings can be selected and deleted.

Undo is Ctrl+Z, redo is Ctrl+Shift+Z. Drawing is currently available on desktop only.

5. Decorate together

The card keeps itself in sync. When a friend posts a sticky note it shows up on your screen a moment later, and there is no need to refresh.

Many people can be in at the same time without getting in each other's way, so “everyone write now” in the group chat works fine.

6. Save as an image

When everyone has written, press Save image to download the whole card as a PNG. It captures everything on the board, not just what is on screen, so the result is the same whether you save from a desktop or a phone.

The saved image is good for printing and framing, or for handing over with a gift. The service is run for free by one person and cannot guarantee permanent storage, so always save the finished card as an image.

Tips

  • Set a deadline. People show up when there is one, like “by Friday night”. A link with no deadline is forgotten by half of them.
  • The organizer writes first. Writing on an empty board is intimidating. One note already there makes everyone after it more comfortable.
  • On the canvas, spread out. If the first few people crowd the center, latecomers have nowhere to go.
  • Save right after it is done. Once the guest of honor has seen it, nobody remembers to save.
